Schedule Plumbing Repair Services For Your Condo Unit

Annie Herrera

Whether you've noticed a leak, low water pressure, or another plumbing issue, it can be confusing to schedule plumbing repair services. If you've recently bought a condo and are new to being a homeowner instead of a renter, it can be confusing to determine how to schedule plumbing services.

Instead of running into issues where you overpay or end up in a position where you broke an association rule, consider the following tips for condo living.

Assess Where the Problem Is Located

If you've noticed a leak or another issue associated with the pipes in your home, you'll need to determine where the source is located. While you're responsible for the interior of your condo and the plumbing inside, the same isn't true for plumbing that's shared between you and another resident.

Having an experienced plumber assess the problem is the best way to determine where the leak or other issue is. This information will determine whether you're responsible for the cost of the repair or if it's something the homeowner association covers.

Schedule During Normal Business Hours

When you live in a condo instead of a single-family home, it's essential to recognize that you live close to your neighbors. While it's possible to schedule 24/7 plumbing services in a home, it's not a good idea for a condo. Unless the problem is severe enough that water damage is a concern, it's best to postpone plumbing services until the morning.

Since your building could have a doorman to allow the plumber in and there are likely noise restrictions for the night, you don't want to run into any issues over having plumbing done. This means scheduling the plumbing services in the middle of the day so that the noise won't disturb your neighbors.

Check if Your HOA Requires Notification

If you're eager to have plumbing services done due to an issue you want to be resolved, you need to check whether it's your responsibility to contact your HOA. In some condo buildings, the association needs to be informed of any repair work that goes on. Check your association rules to determine if this is the case and what you can expect once it's time to have repair work done.

Instead of letting a plumbing issue worsen, it's best to explore what needs to be done as a condo owner. Since you'll want to ensure that the plumbing is in good condition, the above tips can help you schedule plumbing repairs without any mistakes due to living in a condo and being part of a homeowner's association.
